About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Privacy Program Manager to join our Legal team. You will develop strategies around global regulatory and privacy compliance, partner closely with teams across Vercel to navigate complex privacy matters, and own and enhance processes to help privacy scale efficiently and effectively. This role reports to the Senior Director of Legal and plays a pivotal role in advancing our privacy initiatives.

What You Will Do:

  • Help to build, mature, scale, and maintain Privacy programs and processes across company-wide workstreams to support global privacy and data protection programs based on industry best practices.

  • Serve as an ambassador of our privacy program through training and documentation to promote a privacy-aware culture across Vercel.

  • Manage and augment our privacy inbox and privacy operations tool used for data subject requests, executing data subject rights across multiple jurisdictions continuously improving workflow.

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop internal and external process improvements to build compliance solutions for organizational problems related to data privacy (e.g., Consent Management, System offboarding, Data Subject Requests, and Data Retention and Deletion).

  • Drive cross-functional privacy projects, working seamlessly with teams like Security, Product, Engineering, Customer Support, IT, Sales and Marketing, and People Team on privacy related aspects of their workflows.

  • Optimize privacy program metrics, providing reporting and insights/trends over time.

  • Provide clear and practical advice on and management of day-to-day privacy operations.

About You:

  • At least 5 years of experience in privacy program management with a CIPP, CIPT, or CIPM certification.

  • Subject Matter Expertise in Privacy: Love privacy-related work and view protecting privacy rights not as a compliance obligation but as the right thing to do. Knowledge or experience with privacy regulations and industry standards, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and the ePrivacy Directive. Familiarity with DPAs, privacy and cookie notices, DPIAs, TIAs, and PIAs.

  • Privacy Operations Expertise:  Ability to drive greater consistency of process, practices and execution across company-wide privacy projects and work-streams. Experienced with privacy tooling (e.g. DataGrail, Relyance) with a proactive approach to adopting new technology.

  • Pragmatic and business-oriented: Strong project management skills. Understand business impact and prioritize projects accordingly, identifying risks and balancing the right privacy investments with the right bottom line outcomes.

  • Empathetic communication: Communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether explaining compliance requirements in writing or brainstorming in real time. Engage thoughtfully with other perspectives and compromise when needed to build consensus.

  • Team player: Enjoy collaborating cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals, focusing on learning, growing, and helping others to do the same.

  • Takes Initiative: Proven track record of taking initiative, having the ability to work independently and handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $144,000 - $216,000.  This salary range is an estimate. Actual salary will be based on job related skills, experience and location. Pay ranges outside San Francisco may be  adjusted based on employee location.  The total compensation package also includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
