About Vercel:

Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company. We free people and agents to ship what’s next.

For more than a decade, Vercel has shaped how the web is built. As the team behind Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, we create products that help builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience.

Now, software is entering a new era, and the next generation of products will not just be used by people. They will be built, extended, and operated by agents.

We are building the platform for that future, trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide. Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next.

About the Role:

We're hiring an IT Systems Engineer to help us improve the way our tools, systems, and processes work together. This role is hands-on and technical, with a focus on automation, integrations, and cleaning up some of the complexity that’s built up as we’ve grown.

In the near term, you’ll spend most of your time building scripts and improving workflows while leveraging AI, and helping us reduce tool sprawl and vendor noise. Over time, we’re looking for someone who can help bring more structure and long-term thinking to how our team operates.

If you like solving real problems, working across teams, and turning messy systems into something that just works, we’d love to talk.

This is an in-person role based at our San Francisco headquarters.  The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite to effectively collaborate with our team and support our office's IT needs.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain automation workflows across core IT systems

  • Lead tool consolidation and SaaS lifecycle improvements

  • Own and improve vendor management processes including procurement, renewals, intake, and documentation

  • Partner with Security, Compliance, and People Operations on cross-functional workflow optimization

  • Build and maintain integrations between systems such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, MDM, and ITSM

  • Contribute to and help enforce IT documentation standards

  • Identify and address tech debt especially in high-friction workflows

  • Help shift IT from reactive support to a proactive, strategic partner

About You:

  • Technically strong: Fluent in scripting (Bash, Python, etc.), APIs, and automation platforms like Workato or Zapier

  • Process and project-oriented: Skilled at designing and implementing scalable systems

  • AI and Automation Expertise: Able to leverage generative AI tools to improve IT workflows and automation

  • Cross-functional communicator: Comfortable collaborating with other teams and and other stakeholders

  • Hands-on: Willing to roll up your sleeves and build, implement, and maintain critical systems

  • Proactive and strategic: Able to focus on immediate needs while aligning with long-term IT goals

  • Documentation-forward: Values clarity and scales knowledge effectively within the team

Success in This Role Looks Like:

  • Identify and automate at least one high-impact IT workflow that improves team efficiency or reduces manual overhead

  • Reduce SaaS tool sprawl by identifying redundant or low-use apps and driving at least one deprecation or consolidation

  • Improve perception of IT by delivering quick wins that make internal tools and processes easier to work with

  • Collaborate with other teams to improve at least one shared process, such as access reviews or procurement requests

  • Contribute to a growing internal knowledge base with reliable documentation for systems, processes, and automations

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.

  • Inclusive Healthcare Package.

  • Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.

  • Flexible Time Off.

  • We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $116,000.00 - $174,000.00. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. The total compensation package may include benefits, equity-based compensation, and eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program depending on the role. Your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process.
