Ultrafast can be useful during an active debugging session when you're waiting for each proposed change before giving the next instruction. Its benefit is less predictable when most of a task's duration comes from a build or a remote service.
The faster service consumes more usage. For GPT-6 Astra, Ultrafast draws down included allowance at eight times the Standard rate. Once you're spending purchased credits, the multiplier is six times Standard. These billing multipliers are separate from the speed claim.
Select Ultrafast in the model picker when waiting on the response is holding up your work. For a task you can leave running, Standard preserves more of your allowance. Changing the speed tier won't shorten a test suite whose runtime is determined by the tests themselves.
