The Vercel platform makes it easy to transfer domains between accounts. This article covers how to use the Transfer Project feature and the Move button to transfer domains between accounts.
Transfer Project
If the domain is actively being used in a Vercel project, the recommended method is to use the Transfer Project feature. By using this method, you will be able to preserve all DNS records attached to your domain and achieve zero downtime and no workflow interruptions.
- Go to your project's General settings, and click on the Transfer button.
- Select the desired scope from the Select, and click "Continue".
- Once the transfer flow is complete, the Vercel project and its domains will be available under the new scope.
Move Button
If the domain is not actively being used in a Vercel project, the recommended method is to use the Move button, which is located in the domain's dashboard. By using this method, you will be able to preserve all DNS records attached to your domain.
- Go to your domain's dashboard, select the to-be-transferred-domain via the Checkbox, and click on the Move button.
- Select or enter the desired scope to move the domain to and click "Continue".
- The domain move will be immediately completed and available to use under the new scope.
- You can verify the request by accessing the domain's dashboard under the new scope.
